The Abuja Unity Lions Club, in partnership with the Asabi Gold Humanitarian Foundation, marked the 2026 World Literacy Day celebration by donating learning materials to pupils of Model Science Primary School, Garki 2, Abuja.
The outreach, held under the theme “Literacy for People, the Planet and Prosperity,” was aimed at promoting reading, writing and quality education among primary school pupils.
Speaking during the event, the Lions Club Project Coordinator, Abayomi Ayegbusi urged the pupils to take their education seriously by coming to school early, reading their books regularly, participating in classroom activities and completing their assignments.
The coordinator also encouraged the children to maintain good personal hygiene, dress neatly in clean school uniforms and be responsible students who make their parents and teachers proud.
According to the coordinator, the notebooks, pens and pencils donated by the organisations were meant to encourage the pupils to read, write and actively engage in learning both in school and at home.
The coordinator said the Lions Club remains committed to humanitarian service and supporting initiatives that improve literacy and education in communities, adding that investing in children’s education is key to building a better future.
