The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has completed the payment of outstanding Back-End Computation (BEC) arrears to 3,958 pensioners of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) under the Defined Benefit Scheme, disbursing N9.48 billion as the final tranche.
PTAD said the payment of N9.476 billion represents the remaining 50 per cent balance of the arrears, following an earlier disbursement of N9.482 billion in June 2026 to the same beneficiaries.
The Directorate said the latest payment brings the total amount paid to the affected PHCN pensioners to N18.96 billion, marking the full settlement of the outstanding BEC arrears.
PTAD described the settlement as a major step in resolving outstanding pension liabilities and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting the welfare and entitlements of pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme.
Executive Secretary of PTAD, Tolulope Odunaiya, said the Directorate remains committed to ensuring that every eligible pensioner receives all benefits due to them.
She added that the Federal Government, through PTAD, will continue to prioritise the welfare, dignity and well being of pensioners by addressing outstanding liabilities and ensuring retired public servants receive their entitlements.
Odunaiya said the years of service and sacrifice of Nigeria’s senior citizens would continue to be recognised as the administration advances initiatives aimed at promoting a more secure and dignified retirement.
