The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has been recognised for its strong ethics and governance record after emerging second overall in the 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The recognition earned the Corporation the 2026 Pillar of Integrity in Public Service Award presented by Verbatim Print & Broadcast Limited at its 2026 awards ceremony in Abuja.
The award was received on behalf of the NDIC Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr Thompson Oludare Sunday, by the Head of Communication and Public Affairs, Ms Hawwau Gambo.
The EICS is an integrity assessment framework developed by the ICPC to evaluate Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on their commitment to ethical standards, accountability and anti-corruption practices.
The assessment covers four key areas: management culture and structure, financial management systems, administrative systems and anti-corruption initiatives.
Speaking on behalf of the Corporation, Gambo commended Verbatim for recognising the NDIC’s performance based on the independently validated ICPC scorecard.
She said the recognition would further strengthen the Corporation’s commitment to transparency, accountability and ethical governance in carrying out its statutory responsibilities.
According to her, NDIC would continue to uphold high professional standards in its core mandates of deposit guarantee, bank supervision in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria, failure resolution and bank liquidation.
Gambo said the award reflected the Corporation’s sustained efforts to maintain stakeholder confidence while delivering on its responsibilities within Nigeria’s financial system.
The ICPC Chairman, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, represented by the Director, Systems Study and Review Department, Mr Olusegun Adigun, delivered the keynote address at the ceremony.
The address was titled, “The Power of Integrity in National Development: Strengthening Public Institutions, Restoring Trust and Driving Prosperity.”
The NDIC said the recognition comes as it continues efforts to protect depositors, strengthen confidence in the banking system and support financial system stability.
The Corporation added that the award would serve as further motivation to deepen compliance with professional, ethical and governance standards in the discharge of its mandate.
