FAAC DISTRIBUTES N2.26TRN APRIL REVENUE TO THREE TIERS OF GOVERNMENT

The Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) has shared a total of N2.257 trillion as revenue generated in April 2026 among the Federal Government, states and local government councils.

The allocation was approved at the committee’s May 2026 meeting held in Abuja, according to a statement issued on Monday by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.

The distributable revenue comprised N1.260 trillion from statutory revenue, N747.088 billion from Value Added Tax (VAT) collections and N250 billion as augmentation.

A communiqué issued after the meeting showed that the Federal Government received N787.351 billion, while state governments got N772.360 billion. Local government councils received N540.152 billion, while oil-producing states shared N157.254 billion as 13 per cent derivation revenue.

FAAC disclosed that total gross revenue available in April stood at N3.184 trillion. From this amount, N113.756 billion was deducted as cost of collection, while N813.839 billion was set aside for transfers, refunds and savings.

The committee reported that gross statutory revenue rose significantly to N2.378 trillion in April, representing an increase of N678.224 billion compared with the N1.699 trillion recorded in March.

Similarly, VAT collections increased to N806.617 billion from N664.425 billion in the preceding month, reflecting a growth of N142.192 billion.

A breakdown of the statutory revenue allocation showed that the Federal Government received N580.942 billion, states received N294.661 billion, while local government councils got N227.172 billion. The oil-producing states also received N157.254 billion as derivation revenue.

From the distributable VAT revenue of N747.088 billion, the Federal Government received N74.709 billion, states got N410.898 billion and local governments received N261.481 billion.

The Federal Government also received N131.700 billion from the N250 billion augmentation, while states and local governments received N66.800 billion and N51.500 billion respectively.

According to FAAC, revenue performance improved during the month as collections from Companies Income Tax (CIT), Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Stamp Duties, Import Duty, Oil and Gas Royalties, and Value Added Tax recorded significant increases.

However, receipts from Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT) and Hydrocarbon Tax (HT) declined considerably, while Excise Duty and Common External Tariff (CET) levies recorded marginal decreases.
