ICPC CHAIRMAN PROFESSOR BOLAJI OWASANOYE PROCEEDS ON PRE-EXIT LEAVE AS PRESIDENT TINUBU ANNOUNCES DR MUSA ADAMU ALIYU HIS SUCCESSOR

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved the request of the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, to commence his pre-end of tenure leave beginning on November 4, 2023.

The president has already approved the appointment of a new management team for the Commission pending Senate confirmation; he has nominated Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and also nominated is Clifford Okwudiri Oparaodu to serve as Secretary.

The ICPC in a statement said its boss had last week communicated his desire to proceed on his Pre-Exit leave to the President through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.

He leaves behind a 98 paged compendium that show 104.696 billion Naira cash recovery with the highest sum achieved in 2022, while assets recovered, restrained, siezed or forfeited totaled 450.999 billion Naira within 2019 and 2022. Also contained in the compendium is 254.864 billion Naira funds retrained in ministries, departments and agencies. 6,048 petitions were received during the period, 4,705 resolved , 309 cases were filed in court and 85 convictions secured between 2019 and 2022.
