Data as at January 2023 show that intra Africa trade stands low at just 14.4% of total African exports. UNCTAD forecasts show the AfCFTA could boost intra Africa trade by about 33% and cut the continent’s trade deficit by 51%. Nigeria needs to deliberately produce sufficiently for herself and member nations to be part of this forecast.
The desired economic improvements occasioned by the underpinning fundamentals cannot be achieved in isolation; the government cannot do much without everybody.
