The Commissioner for Insurance National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin has assured the Chief Executive Officer of the National Data Protection Commission (NDPC) Mr. Vincent O. Olatunji of the commission’s readiness to for a collaboration that will ultimately enhance the attainment of the mandates of the respective Agencies.
Omosehin gave the assurance when he played host to Olatunji and members of his team in his office who paid him a visit.
The CFI assured Mr. Olatunji and members of his team of NAICOM’s commitment in areas of mutual interest along their functions.
In his response, Mr. Olatunji said the NPDC being one of the agencies newly created by the Federal Government, was at NAICOM to create awareness on the data protection law as well as seek the cooperation of NAICOM and collaboration to entrench data protection policy among its regulated entities.
A statement by NAICOM indicates that the partnership was initiated by NDPC and has taken Ian initial step to create awareness and build capacity before full enforcement of the law on protection of data privacy in the country.
