The Minister of Finance and the Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun has solicited for the support of the management and staff of the Ministry of Finance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the country.
Stephen Kilebi,Director Press at the Ministry of Finance in a statement disclosed that Mr Wale Edun stated this when he assumed duty this Monday at the Ministry.
The Minister who acknowledged the trust, opportunity and honour given to him to serve said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s key macro, monetary and fiscal measures might have taken a toll on Nigerians but will hopefully be at the economy’s advantage. He reiterated ,”We must deliver and we must perform” adding that the expectations of Nigerians from Mr.President are high and so he has come to correct most abnormalities, promising to do whatever that is possible to minimize the sufferings of Nigerians. Mr.Edun assured that the pains of Mr. President’s reforms would soon be over.
He explained that as the Minister of Finance and the Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy his job is to help in sustaining the reforms initiated by the former Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed, promising to build on her achievements, so as to take the country to greater heights, stating that governance is a continuum.
Mr. Edun reiterated the need for team work, adding that, it is the only way to achieve success. He added that the Ministry is not new to him because he had been in and out of the Ministry for a purpose, adding that, he would utilize digitalization of the Ministry as an advantage to fasten his job.
Earlier, the Permanent Federal Ministry Secretary of Finance, Mallam Aliyu Ahmed, in remarks stated that the Minister’s antecedents and pedigree with over 30 years of experience in the finance sector makes the cap really fit him as the Minister of Finance and the Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy.
Ahmed assured Mr Edun of his support and the loyalty of the management and staff of the Ministry.
The Permanent Secretary Special Duties of the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Okokon Udo, in his welcome address assured the Honourable Minister of the Ministry’s readiness and commitment towards the realization of Mr.President’s vision for Nigeria’s economy.
