As an undergraduate of Economics, I could more easily hear about insurance than my friends who were in Medical School or School of Engineering.
Indeed, those in Medical School or School of Engineering would graduate from the University as educated persons but “illiterates” of insurance! However, besides commencing their practices, they need/get cars, apartments and other properties, which require insurance coverages.
How can we reconcile the need for Motor Insurance, Individual Life Assurance, Personal Accident Insurance and others immediately after graduation and employment. Should every undergraduate have been made aware of insurance given the immediate need for different classes of insurance?
Sometimes, professionals have worked in multinationals for years and signing off their insurance documents, yet with minimal understanding of insurance especially when there are claims.
Their interests in insurance only aggravate when they start running their start-ups or enterprises and they seek to be more educated about insurance.
When Individual Life Assurance, which is best started at the age of 25 years, now gets started at 45 years, chances are you’ll later regret why you didn’t start earlier. Similarly, Health Insurance may be better in later years when you’re probably with lesser money to have a Plan.
What the quick analysis we’ve done here reveals is that it is better to have the awareness and education of insurance earlier in one’s career.
So, when was the first time you ever heard about insurance?! Was it when your Father’s car had an accident or the claims for your Mother’s Life Assurance Policy wasn’t paid after she died? As you’d notice, many people get to hear about insurance for the first time when there are losses or damages.
Hardly do you hear people discussing insurance as a financial instrument that adds value to our net worth. If the time is right, let’s advise the younger people around us to know and understand insurance NOW?
Our livelihoods need insurance from early years. It’s necessary to seek to know rather than let the knowledge come to you as bad news.
Please let an Insurance Agent/Broker guide you through your insurance experience from today. The current economic situation require you to consider insurance coverages that will create and protect your wealth in future.
